Wrapping Up: Week Eighteen

500k mark smashed ;D Halfway to the mill, woot!

Week: 55,333g

Total: 553,807g

My computer is super emo and decided to blue screen in the middle of my post yesterday, GG, so of course I lost what I had written because I'm a noob and didn't check autosave ;D

Anyway, I wanted to talk to you guys today alittle bit about some of my plans for the direction of this blog.
First of all, I apologize for the lack of content while I was on vacation and while I'm trying to get some semblance of my "normal" life back.

- I really want to get back on-track with writing HELPFUL posts and not just "braggy" ones. With it being so hectic around here, It's been hard to post anything but numbers. While this blog has always been 'a record of my journey' I really want it to be a tool in helping YOU in yours.

- The video series has generated a lot of interest, I definitely want to get to work on recording them!

- New realm project. (I need a better name for that)

I'm not going to make the mistake of sticking a time-frame on these things, god knows I won't be able to keep it lol, but I wanted to let you know that I really DO want to do them and I'm excited to start working on them :)

Thanks for sticking with me so far!

- Tella

  1. I would enjoy seeing a breakdown of where that 55,333g comes from.

    JCing
    - epic gems ( xg )
    Inscription
    - glyphs ( xg )
    - vellums ( xg )
    - offhands ( xg )
    AH Flipping

I go back to your olds posts to see what your income sources are but I'm not sure if your strategies change week by week.

Looking forward to the future content.

  2. Tella, I want to thank you for your blog! I've been reading a few and I discovered yours yesterday. It has been by far the most enjoyable one I've read. After reading the first two posts, I got hooked and started at the very bottom and worked my way up.

I'm starting up the cap journey in particular because of reading your blog. I'm an alt-o-holic with a starting bank of 3k gold and 6 characters with every single profession already maxed, so my hopes are high and prospects wide open. Please keep these posts coming, they're my compass! :)

  5. Grats on the 500k mark!

A break down would certainly be nice, but unless you keep a very detailed money log or have bankers that ONLY sell one type of item it would be rather difficult I'd imagine. Although a rough estimate isn't too hard to come up with.

I look forward to your new realm project and if it it seems interesting I may give it a shot myself. I'd call it " midnight moonlight" since you're mostly just going to be 'moonlighting' on the server you pick.

    Oh ya, post more!

  6. Tella!

Coming back from a couple month WoW hiatus here (I think I left around week eight or so? Back in November, before the holidays) Anyways, congrats on the cap! AND on 500k!) Glad to see you're still around kicking ass and taking gold.

In terms of "helpful posts" and where to take the blog and all that fun stuff... have you thought about a project where you try to mimic the play schedule of a 9-5'er?

I think its clear to everyone you've pretty much dominated your market, but when thinking about whether I'd like to read you starting fresh and dominating another realm's market... I worry it may just end up being more of the same, ya know? We KNOW you have the skill and savvy to rule the AH with your current play schedule, but I think it would be interesting to see how things would change if you only allowed yourself to do AH related business (canceling, reposting, even crafting) for ~2 hours a day.

It would be interesting to follow you as you figure out which markets are more... "casual friendly" ya know? Where you either can't cancel/repost constantly (something that resonated with me back in november when you were still having your undercutting wars). Now, given you wouldn't be giving up your main it may end up that you only play on your new server for a limited amount of time each day, simulating a more time constrained environment, which would accomplish the same thing.

I just think that simply starting fresh won't necessarily be all that different that your previous endeavor to hit the cap, and that adding a twist to the re-roll would make it all the more interesting for us, and for you! =)

  7. I agree that it would be helpful to break down what you sold / profit generated, like you did in 1 of your older post months ago

Grats on your 500k achieved =)

  9. Btw I just wanted to add that I don't think it's so much the schedule that has anything to do with your new server choice.

Rather, on a new server you have zero money (you originally started with 50k), zero 80's (at most you could make a 55 DK and get 10 levels). This would impact hugely on how you'd do for you blog on a new server. I would be extremely interested in how this would play out. :)

  10. "Starting from Scratch" might be a very nice and simple name for your project.

And you're right, more constructive posts saying how the money you've earned will be a lot more interesting, but it also will increase the competition you'll face on your way to making more gold (and that's exactly what every goblin needs to kill the boredom).
Keep it up and good luck with your 1 mil gold, I give it 2 weeks till you're that far.
